The Heart arrives at the Pro Cathedral, Friday 16 July. The People gather. The crowd builds up. The Camillians carry the Heart of the Saint into Dublin's Pro-Cathedral. Veneration begins immediately. Just as well, as there were huge numbers. Everyone was given time. The Red Cross is visible on the Pillar as well as the picture of St Camillus & Our Lord. The picture highlights St Camillus' conversion. Touch is important for all. A view from the Organ gallery. We would have stayed all night to facilitate the people. The Red Cross is a powerful symbol. St Camillus requested permission from Pope Sixtus V for himself and his followers to wear the red cross. Patron Saint of the Sick & those who care for them. Above, a district nurse venerates the Heart of St Camillus. St Camillus had time for everyone and so do his followers. 'I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I am constant in my affection for you.' (Jer. 31:33) 'Feed my sheep.' At the beginning of Mass, Fr Damian O'Reilly, Administrator, on behalf of the Archbishop, welcomes Fr Stephen Foster, Provincial of the Camillians, and all Camillians with the Heart of St Camillus to the Cathedral. left to right, Fr Damien O'Reilly, Fr Stephen Foster & Fr Jayan Joseph (a Camillian from India.) |
